Miami-Dade private schools by the numbers: 687 registered, 486 take state scholarships

We pulled every private school registered with the Florida DOE in Miami-Dade. Here's what the data says about where choice is working.

The Florida Department of Education's Private School Directory lists 687 private schools in the Miami-Dade district as of October 2026. 205 identify as religious; 44 are Catholic, 30 Jewish, and more than 120 Protestant or non-denominational Christian.

486 schools — 71% — are listed as participating in the Florida Tax Credit / FES-EO scholarship program. Participation is highest in Hialeah, Liberty City, Miami Gardens and Homestead, where the scholarship frequently covers the full tuition at church-run schools.

137 schools report an accreditation; 427 list a website. Every record is reproduced on its school page here, with the retrieval date, so families and schools can see exactly what the state has on file and request corrections.
