How Miami families actually afford private school

Almost no one in Miami-Dade pays sticker price. A typical family stacks the state scholarship, school aid and one more source. Here is how the stack works.

Start with the state scholarship

The Florida Private School Scholarship pays $8,745 (K-3), $8,140 (4-8) or $7,942 (9-12) at any participating school. At hundreds of Miami-Dade church and community schools, that is 70-100% of tuition.

Add school-based aid

Most schools offer need-based aid, sibling discounts or parishioner rates on the balance. Catholic schools add Archdiocese of Miami tuition assistance.

Add a third layer where needed

Jewish day schools have community scholarship funds; Christian schools often have church sponsorships; the Edu Fund partner scholarship covers gaps at partner church schools; the federal scholarship tax credit arrives January 2027.

Younger siblings

VPK is free for every 4-year-old, and School Readiness subsidizes child care for working families — often at the same church campus.
